As part of the year-end giving season, UTEC staff members have created brief videos with our young people in an effort to capture, in a simple, personal and immediate fashion, what their relationship means and how it fits into the greater context of the ‘UTEC family.’
The results of this effort were quite remarkable. These short videos offer a broad range of styles and approaches, varying from the light and playful to the serious and thought-provoking, and, when taken together, present a unique kalideoscopic window into the life and times of UTEC. To get some idea of the variety of these videos, here are a few samples:
- “Kodi and Culinary Crew” gives you a quick and energetic behind-the-scenes look at Cafe UTEC. To view, click <a href="https://here
- “What Keeps You Coming Back?” presents one of our youth talking about the importance of UTEC in helping him redefine his future. To view, click <a href="https://here
- “The Old Van Mannequin Challenge” plays off the current “mannequin” trend in social media as staff and youth work to maintain the aging UTEC van. To view, click <a href="https://here
The goal behind these videos (many of which include the tagline, #chooseUTEC) is for each staff member to use their creation as a means to raise awareness of UTEC among their friends and family through the ease and flexibility of social media. With the click of a key, their friends and associates get a quick, slice-of-life peek into that uncommon place that many refer to as “home.”
It’s still too early to determine the full success of this effort, but if early signs are any indication — including the growing amount of Facebook “shares” and “likes” — this mini campaign looks like it will do much to help increase the general awareness of that special place we call UTEC.
