It’s hard to imagine a better place than UTEC for any member looking to do engaging youth development work. For the past 10 years, UTEC, every August, has brought on a new team of AmeriCorps members who, after intensive orientation and training, then devote their service year working directly with our young adults in a wide variety of different roles, all to the clear betterment of UTEC, its staff, and the young people it serves. The energy, passion, and enthusiasm of our AmeriCorps members is felt daily, in every corner of the organization.
We would be remiss if we didn’t mention that this successful, long-term partnership has been made possible by our friends responsible for managing and administering the AmeriCorps program, both locally and nationally: the
Massachusetts Service Alliance, and Corporation of National and Community Service, . America’s Service Commissions
When an AmeriCorps member begins his/her service year at UTEC, they choose from twelve different specialized positions in a variety of UTEC departments, including: Culinary, Social Justice, Woodworking, Education, and Social Enterprise. In addition, any member who wishes to pursue a particular interest or passion can lead a service activity, whether its poetry, a basketball tournament, an open mic night, or a book club; the list is long. In short, if you’re interested in working with young people in lots of different capacities, you’ll find a great fit within the UTEC universe.
