Many of you have heard of “Black Friday” and perhaps also “Cyber Monday,” but how many of you know of “Giving Tuesday”?
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday (hashtag: #GivingTuesday) for many people officially kicks off the end-of-year charitable season. Since its inaugural year in 2012, Giving Tuesday has quickly become a global movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy, and this year is no exception.
Here at UTEC, for next week’s Giving Tuesday (11/29) as well as for the upcoming giving season, this year’s theme (and tagline) is #chooseUTEC. Now more than ever there is a multitude of ways to, in fact, choose UTEC.
Local young people with past criminal involvement choose UTEC to help move toward a better life: to complete their high school education, to get and hold that first job, to begin to transform their lives. And when YOU choose UTEC, you’re one of the good people that actually make this transformation possible, which is no small gift.
By choosing UTEC, you truly make it possible for us to achieve the ambitious outcomes we’ve set for our young people: reduced recidivism, increased employability, and increased educational attainment. For more on our 2016 Outcomes and Impact, click here.
And, for those of you interested in something in addition to a charitable gift, there are other ways to choose UTEC. For instance, thanks to the steady growth of our social enterprises, you can now:
- #chooseUTEC for lunch in downtown Lowell at Cafe UTEC
- #chooseUTEC for great holiday gifts like our cutting boards
- #chooseUTEC for event rentals and catering
However you choose to direct your giving this year, we hope you will choose UTEC. And when you do, please use the hashtag #chooseUTEC on Facebook and Twitter to tell us – and the world!
For all of us here at UTEC, we wish you a most joyous holiday season.
