On July 12th, more than 150 advocates, organizers, and legislators celebrated the passage of many young adult justice reforms. The celebration was all about celebrating youth voices, coalition work, and how the House and Senate together championed many great young adult justice reforms, including expungement! We were honored to have House Speaker Robert DeLeo, Incoming Senate President Karen Spilka, Rep. Jeffrey Sanchez, Senator William Brownsberger, Rep. Kay Khan, Rep. Andy Vargas and others speak.

Clean slates were given to each legislative champion.

In total, we handed out over 20 “Clean Slate” awards to specific legislators who advocated for key pieces of reform like expungement, raise the age, school-based arrests, and more. Thanks to everyone of our champions: Senator Cynthia S. Creem, Rep Evandro Carvalho, Rep Carolyn Dykema, Senator Sonia Chang-Díaz, Rep Liz Malia, Rep Aaron Vega, Senator Patricia Jehlen, Senator John Keenan, Senator Joseph Boncore, Rep Chris Markey, Former Senator Linda Dorcena-Forrey, and former Rep James Cantwell.
Thanks to the many groups who came together to plan the event including Teens Leading the Way, Citizens for Juvenile Justice, I Have A Future, TEASA, HOPE Coalition, VIP Haverhill, Straight Ahead Ministries, College Bound Dorchester and More Than Words. Madd Love!
